herniated disc medication
medication for sciatica not working?

I’m an 18 year old female. I just got diagnosed with a mild irritation of the sciatic nerve and a possible lumbar herniated disc. I was given a painkiller ( diclofenac) and axogaurd. Which doesnt seem to be working , and I don’t know but my muscles are twitching more and the pain in my thigh has become more frequent, not excruciating , but pretty annoying. should I ask for a stronger painkiller ? I’m leaving for my vacation in a week . I don’t want to be in any discomfort.

cuz the things that caused the herniation in the first place have not gotten corrected;; no matter how much you think this is gonna go away, it’s not until you make changes to your usage of your trunk…you should have ask for a PT referral for body mechanics..every time you guard to protect that back from pain, you are pulling on the muscles & then restricting them in a way that causes them to yank on that already herniated disc (the vertebrae surrounding to be exact);; when you hold your breath, the same situation arises (breathe OUT instead, like when you sit<>stand, getting in & out of the car, getting in & out of bed & rolling in bed);; the anti-inflammatories will help get the swelling down which is also another cause of your sciatica..a cold pack will help to supplement your pn meds..& you just need a more effective pain med than the one you are taking presently;; but honestly, the pain meds & mm relaxers will help the back but won’t overcome the way you treat it…good luck on your vacation, but treat your back well..if you are driving vs flying, put the pillow on your chest…NOT the back of the seat (it will only be worse for you back there..way too much movement)..remember, in front..again good luck!!
