Uma Sankar Tripathi, a male of 61 years, reported with pain in low back with radiation in both lower legs and exacerbation in forward bending. He also has reported for indigestion, bloating and poor appetite.Furtermore he reported for an increased frequency but reduced quantity of micturition during night. He was investigated thoroughly for his complaints and revealed to have following findings on various investigations

1. MRI Lumbo-Sacral Spine (25.07.07)

Shows degenerative changes in lumber spine with facet joint arthropathy, ligament flavum hypertrophy, disc degeneration and herniation at L4-L5 level with narrowing of neural foramina at this level.

2. USG whole abdomen(26.11.07)

Mild hepatomegally and fatty liver grade 2 with cholelithiasis and cholecystitis. Prostate enlargement wt 38 Gms.

3. Blood sugar fasting .212mg/dl and PP325 mg/dl

A 6 month treatment plan with a combination of yoga, Ayurveda and dietary management has resulted in some never before improvements .The prostate size reduced to a significant low at 29.6gms, Fatty liver cured and low back ache reduced to a minimum. His blood sugar also turned to normal with 113 mg /dl fasting and 178 mg/dl as PP levels.

The most significant part of the management was to know that his improvements were stable and was without any use of modern medicine (except for the time he went for surgery to his gall bladder stone)

This case is an eye opener and reveals that most of our illnesses can be treated well without having a respite in modern medicine just by changing a few things in our life and with little addition of supervised Ayurvedic interventions.
