back injury and knee injury cant be a sprain?

i injured my back yesterday. and left knee. i went to the hospital and had xrays done. they came out ok but i still have pain shooting down my legs and real bad pain in the knee and back. the pain killers aren’t working. and im having trouble urinating. shouldn’t they have done like a MRI. i have to go back and see the doctor on the 22nd. or should i go back to the emergency room? and how long does it take for a back injury to heal? i think its a herniated disk? as i have all the signs of that. my knee is badly swollen now i think i tore something in there that a normal xray doesn’t show. same thing in my back a regular xray cant possibly show torn ligaments and muscles can it?

They should have done an MRI. You should go back to the ER. If is excruciating pain and you can’t stand it, and pain killers don’t work, your brain is trying to tell you that something’s wrong.
