Herniated Disc Exercises To Avoid

herniated disc exercises to avoid
Herniated Disc…In Pain…Please Help!?

Let me just start off saying that I also have scoliosis and have had back issues for the past 15 years. I had pain so great last summer that radiated down my leg into my toes that I went to physical therapy 3x a week and popped Vicodin and muscle relaxants like crazy. Well, it’s back and its been almost two weeks. I’m in agony and I have a two year old that I am home with all day. It’s been very hard to care for her plus limp around in pain. Is there anything that I can do at home to help without having to call the doc? I don’t have anyone to watch her during the day to go to PT and I’m trying my best to avoid it so I’ve been starting the exercises that I was shown a year ago…it helps for awhile, just so the pain is tollerable, and then starts in again. HELP!

Find a chiropractor. Some offices do care for your child while you are treating. There are several different types of technique geared towards the kind of problem you have, which I suspect to be disc herniation.

Find a doctor who does cox flextion distraction technique. It is nonsurgical way to decompress herniated disc with very high success rate. I think you can find a practitioner at coxtechnique.com
not sure if that’s the right address..you might want to google it…

Herniated Disc L5 S1

herniated disc l5 s1
if you have a herniated disc pressing against a nerve in L5 S1, can a chiropractor actually fix the problem?

In looking at your previous Questions:

1. I’m assuming you were diagnosed (via x-rays or MIR) with this herniated disc.

2. I’m assuming you did not have the surgery you were discussing 3 months ago.

3. The tingling and pain in your shoulder and arm would not result from a lumbar 5 nerve compression. A compressed thoracic or cervical nerve would cause these symptoms. This is a chart of dermatomes, meaning it shows which spinal nerves innervate which areas of skin http://www.sci-recovery.org/images/dermatomes.jpg.

4. At this point I would suggest a referral to a Physical Therapist. I am completely in favor of chiropractors (I have used them occasionally for over 25 years), but a Physical Therapist can show you exercises that can help you align your back properly.

A partly-herniated (and sometimes a herniated) disc maybe capable of healing itself with the appropriate posture and exercise. Two years ago I injured my Lumbar 4 and 5 discs, partly-herniating them. My insurance would not pay for an MRI or for physical therapy, so I found a Home Exercise Program for partly-herniated discs and after 3 months I had no further pain.

If you have a lumbar 5 problem, you probably also have sciatic pain http://www.gonstead.co.uk/Back-Pain/sciatica/images/spinal-nerve-distribution-sciatica_w600.gif. Exercises intended for sciatica resulting from a herniated disc are what I chose, and these sites may help http://www.spine-health.com/wellness/exercise/exercise-sciatica-a-herniated-disc, http://www.spine-health.com/wellness/exercise/overview-sciatica-exercises.

Again, a chiropractor may be able to help you, but I would not recommend being “adjusted” in the usual chiropractic way. Many chiropractors can also provide physical therapy, including massage, muscle stimulation (which feels very good!), and a home exercise program.

Whether you see a physical therapist or a chiropractor is up to you, but I can recommend them in that order.

Herniated Disc Back Treatment

herniated disc back treatment
wifehaveslip disc % MRI L4-5 Disc Degeneration Herniated L4-5 &right sided neural compromiseSuggesttreatment?

My wife have slip disc problem. She had pain in back Shje was on bed rest wef 11th March. Now she is improving . But now when she walk, she is tillted to the right side and has little pain.
The details of MRI Report which was done on 25th March are:-
Mild cervical-Lumbar Spodylosis with L3-4,L4-5 Dis gegeneration. Significant right paracentral protrusion-Extrsion with downward migration of herniated L4-5 Disc causing significant Right Sided Neural Compromise with Thecal Sac Cauda Equina compromise.
Additiuonal MILD PIVD-C4-5,C5-6,L3-4 discs

Please suggest the further treatment

I had similar, started five years ago, same discs, L5 S1 prolapsed laterally, trapping and bruising sciatic nerve to such a degree that I had to stop work, could not sit for longer than 5 mins, could not walk anywhere without significant pain, leg would give way through weakness and numbness, finally had two MRI’s, got me in for surgery, disc decompression + discechtomy on Dec 20th. I posted a question about this procedure, it was agony, and I was in hospital for two weeks over Xmas. It did not improve, in fact pain was worse than pre-op, so had me back in March 17th for 4th nerve root block. That kicked in after about 3 weeks. I would NOT recommend any surgery whatsoever on the spine or spinal cord, until you have tried every, I mean, ever other avenue, including chiropractice, physiotherapy, osteopathy, and a whole bunch of specially programmed exercises. Keep mobile. I am about half way back to where I was before surgery, and they tell me it will be a year before I really benefit (!). I am very sceptical. I did not receive one single answer to my question regarding decompression, therefore I assume either readers don’t know what it is, or they haven’t had it done. Ive had some silly answers and some very good advice but NOT FOR post op disc decompression, sadly. You don’t say how old your wife is? I was 59 when mine started to exacerbate after a 23 hour flight to Sydney from UK to see my daughter. I knew something was terribly wrong, and had three months of agony over there. What treatment has been suggested to your wife? I cannot see how it will improve unless something is done quickly for her, such as physiotherapy and/or exercises. The pain from sciatica is notoriously difficult to keep under control. Not even morphine pathes helped in the end. It’s a condition she will have to nurse along very carefully, always pacing herself. Perhaps it will improve and heal itself, but only if she is very careful. I wish her very quick healing indeed. Funny how I haven’t had one single answer to my question, maybe it isn’t so common in the US?

Herniated Disc L3 L4

herniated disc l3 l4
What to do about my herniated disc causing sciatica pain?

I’m a 22 yr old male with pain in my back.. I’ve had a ct scan which the dr’s said I have herniated disc in the l2-l3 and l3-l4 part of the spine.. Which is pressing on the sciatic nerve…which is really beating my butt with the pain, I can barely stand or walk..even laying down it’s hurting doctors only gave me some vicodin to help with pain…my question is, is there anything I can do about this? Will the disc ever heal?pain what can I do about it? Again I’m only 22 and should not be in this situation…also iam overweight if that matters..what about surgery? Inversion table anything… Thanks in advanced

Doctors will often prescribe physical therapy, and pain medication.
But that is the short-term way to go.
Losing weight will definitely be in your favour.
Surgery is often the only way to remedy the situation.
best wishes

Herniated Disc Treatment For Dogs

herniated disc treatment for dogs
How much does back rehabilitation for a dog usually cost?

My dog herniated 5 discs in her back a few weeks ago and the vet referred me to Healing Touch for Animals to start rehab for her. (She is also taking steroids to relieve the inflammation.) I have an appt to meet with the rehab center but I was wondering if anyone has also experienced this and knows the costs for this kind of treatment, either short-term or long-term.

It will depend on what course of therapy they are going to do for your dog. I am an animal massage therapist, and I charge $45/session for canine massage. I do work with my clients that have a long term program for injury rehabilitation to help with the cost if they can’t afford it.
