I have chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, pinched nerves degenerative disc disease, low thyroid, stenosis?
herniated disc’s with nerve root involvement, depression and ptsd. I am 51 years old. I look fairly young and people look at me as if their is nothing wrong with you especially when I put the disability tag on the mirror of my car. I can not sleep? I am up now it is 3am. Today I did not get up until 2:30 pm. I was not sleeping, only in and out of sleep with bad dreams. I am not one bit tired but would love to get some sleep and be semi normal. Why?
Jan,
Wow, you get it and I am sorry that you are going through these difficulties. I ask for later appointments and explain that I have chronic fatigue and don’t trust myself to get up on time and the medical help seems to not understand they must also think that I am just lazy. I worked like crazy and kept up my home until…. now I am not the same person and really do feel burnt out. Thank you and God bless you and heal you.
I have the same problems as you (CFS, fibro, a couple pinched nerves, DDD, lumbar stenosis, low thyroid, herniated and extruded discs and PTSD) as well as epilepsy and I’m 23, so I totally get the whole “nothing looks wrong with you” until they see that my gran walks better than I do. The absolute most frustrating thing about chronic fatigue is the fact that you can STILL have insomnia… My doctor had to explain to me that “tired”, “exhausted” and “sleepy” can exist TOTALLY separate from each other. You can be dead-exhausted but not sleepy in the least, creating the frustration of not feeling like you can rest. And the frustration leading to freaky dreams is common. I get that too. People have told me things from “your diet is bad” to “you need to prioritise what you do better” to “You wouldn’t be so tired if you just lost weight/exercised more/etc”… It sucks. I’ve found that taking a benadryl 13 hours before I have to be awake does wonders, but that’s just me. Also, switching to vegetarian diet for 2 days a week (and I love meat too, lol) has helped me get more B-vitamins, which REALLY helps my energy.

I have under gone ozonucleolysis treatment for the cervic slipped disc at C5-C6 level. when will it recover?
C5-C6 disc shows a large paracentral and lateral herniation causing foraminal stenosis compressing the exiting nerve roots. Mild indentation of the cord seen. After taking the ozonucleolysis treatment, does the herniated disc shrink immediately at the time of administration of the said medical procedure or the process is slow and gradual. what could be the time period for the herniated dis to set at its original place whether it is possible after such treatment. Further what are the precautions to be taken by me in future so as to avoid further injury and pain. what are the exercises to be followed making the neck muscles strong so that the prolapsed disc does not cause problems in future. Is total recovery possible in such case after taking ozonucleolysis treatment?
should be effective
after healing time you can use traction at home
go to a physical therapist or chiropractor to show you proper neck exercises.

Is it safe to take soma (muscle relaxer) during pregnancy? I have a herniated disk and some days are really tough. If not, what are other options?
Did your doctor prescribe you the medication knowing you were pregnant? If he did, then he believes it will benefit you more then be a risk for you, it’s a Class C drug for pregnant women
Carisoprodol has been assigned to pregnancy category C by the FDA. Animal studies have reported that carisoprodol crosses the placenta and results in adverse effects on fetal growth and postnatal survival. However, animal studies have not adequately evaluated the teratogenic effects of carisoprodol. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Carisoprodol should only be given during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.
No one is immune. For people from champion athletes to desk-bound white-collar professionals, many simple acts of life–a relaxing evening stroll through the neighborhood, an exhilarating run along a sandy beach, just bending down to tie a loose shoelace-are often acts of torture. The walking wounded suffer from torn rotator cuffs, tennis elbow, jogger’s knees, bad backs, stiff necks, sore feet, a…

Healing Back Pain promises permanent elimination of back pain without drugs, surgery, or exercise. It should have been titled Understanding TMS Pain, because it discusses one particular cause of back pain–Tension Myositis Syndrome (TMS)–and isn’t really a program for self-treatment, with only five pages of action plan (and many more pages telling why conventional methods don’t work). Accor…

Treatments/experiences with buldging or herniated discs?
Other than surgery, physical therapy, steroid/cortisone shots, what are some treatments and experiences you’ve have with buldging discs? Like disc decompression? acupuncture? massage therapy?
any advice or anything would be greatly appreciated!
You didn’t mention disco-gram. It’s diagnostic rather then treatment but thought I’d mention it too. A disco gram is quite unpleasant. Otherwise, your list is fairly complete without getting into to much detail. For example, you could list the types of surgeries that are done. And the “short” well there are basically two kinds of injections given; trigger point and epidural. You might also mention simple adjustment by a chiropractor. How about pain management. There is all kinds of stuff that happens with pain management. And of course there is also talk therapy which teaches you how to manage your life when you’re in constant pain.

What happens in a post-op lower back surgery, laminectomy/micro-discectomy to correct herniated disk?
Immediately after, my areas in a L5-S1 herniation that were sciatic, became very number, but now it’s four days after surgery, and it seems like some of the pain is coming back. I’ve also had the odd back spasm. Is this normal, and what else can I expect? Two weeks to follow up with doc.
Not the clearest question. The pain may be coming back in my leg, right now it’s still mostly number, there areas that were previously extremely painful from the sciatica.
Sounds pretty normal to me. I’ve had two fusion surgeries. You should let your surgeon know when you are there for your follow-up.
You may want to ask him about something like Soma for the spasms by just calling them and telling them about them. They will help prevent them.
It’s pretty common for the pain to be there for awhile but not the pain that feels like it is burning. That one you shouldn’t be having. Here are 2 sites you should check out. And good luck recovering.
The most common treatments for back pain include: (1) ingestion of NSAIDs (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs), and (2) surgical procedures. Many individuals are becoming wary of consuming NSAIDs due to their adverse side effects, such as causing stomach ulcers and/or accelerating cardiovascular diseases. Surgery has many of its own risks. The cost for surgery can be significant, and the recove…
I took 2 pregnancy tests yesteraday, 2 days before I was due to get my period (tomorrow). They both showed a faint positive sign. In the past week I have had lower back pain and cramping. I have other children and do not recall having lower back pain. I am just a little worried because I am now 38. Has anybody else experienced this?
As soon as you become pregnant your body starts changing, especially your hormone levels. Your increased hormones make your ligaments soft and stretchy, including the ligaments in your back. Unfortunately this also makes them painful.
The best you can do is be very careful about your posture and back mechanics. Avoid bending and lifting, and when you have to bend, bend at your hips and keep your back straight.
I’m having lower left back pain i’ve had MRI’s and x-rays no doctor can find out what’s wrong any suggestions?
I’ve been examined for scoliosis, herniated disc’s, rib fractures, and pulled muscles. nothing seems to fit. I also had an ultra sound done to rule out kidney stones. I’m desperate for answers. the pain is between my last ribs and hip, it starts from the spine and radiates forward toward my hip. It seems to be extremely aggravated by sitting. No numbness or tingling or any other pain. it’s slowly been getting worse over about 3 months.
I’d see a neurosurgeon or an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in spines. If it’s not spine/bone related, consider a urologist to check on you kidney. While back pain due to kidneys is rare, it may be something to think about if everything else has been ruled out.
I had an MRI done after a car accident. I had some numbness in my hands and fingers, shoulder blade pain, and neck pain.
The results of the MRI state:
There is a midline posterior disk herniation at C5-6. There is abnormal signal involving the herniated portion of this disk compatible with a radial tear. There is impingement upon the ventral thecal sac. What does that all mean….LOL
It means that you have a herniated disc in your lower neck, which explains why you are having the symptoms you are having. Having a herniated disc now may cause you issues down the road, leading up to surgery if the numbness in your hands and fingers comes back and won’t go away.

muscle relaxers for a herniated disc in the upper neck, can you tell me about them ?
My son in law is only 31 and has a herniated disc in his upper neck and he is in great pain. He has been told he can use muscle relaxants, are they are by prescription or are there any over the counter meds he can get ? He is seeing a chiropractor who said he could take them, but my son in law isn’t big into taking meds, but I thought if he took them, it might relax his neck and help him recover ? I’ve never had these issues ?
I spent over 30 years going to the chiropractor with my neck, having had a standing two week appointment. Then I found out how to release my neck muscles which took care of all the pain I had in my neck and I haven’t been back to the chiropractor in 16 months. If you think he would be interested in also kicking the chiropractor while getting the best relief for his neck then he should give these releases a try. They did the trick for me and countless others. Here’s how to release the neck muscles which will take the pressure off the disc:
Neck
Put your hands alongside your head so your thumbs are on the front of the muscle under your ear and your fingers are on the back of the muscle behind your head. Squeeze your thumb and fingers together and hold. Relax your body. After 45 seconds, slowly lower your head as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your neck lowered for another 30 seconds.
With your neck in the lowered position, replace your thumbs in under the ears and your fingers behind your head but right next to your skull this time. Press your fingers and thumbs together again and hold. Relax your body while waiting. When the muscles have all released, slowly lift your head until it’s level again, release the pressure but hold your head like that for another 30 seconds.
